Breaking: Governorship Candidate in Rivers Magnus Abe withdraws suit from tribunal

The SDP Governernorship candidate in the 2023 Governernorship and state Assembly elections in Rivers state, Senator Magus Abe has withdrawn his petition from the tribunal.

In a statement credited to Abe by one of his supporters on social media the SDP candidate who also shared the statement on his Facebook wall said for the greater good of Rivers state the Petitions filled at the Rivers state Petitions Tribunal will be discontinued.

He said: “For the greater good of the state and the interest of the team, we have decided to withdraw the Petition”.

Opinions say the former APC stalwart in Rivers state who is a strong supporter of the President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu may have been advised to drop the petition following the emergence of Governor Wike’s candidate Sir. Siminilaye Fubara and the new relationship being enjoyed by the Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike and the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

There are indications that Abe stands a chance of being appointed into the incoming Federal Executive Council led by the President-Elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu having been an ardent supporter of the Tinubu/Shetima candidacy in Rivers state despite running under the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP).
