in particular and the good people of Ekpeye Ethnic nation for rising up to alleviate the hardship and sufferings of the flood affected victims now residing in the IDP camps.
Ekpeleni Ekpeye in the same vein observes the commendable swift response of the Chairman of Ahoada West LGA. Hon. Hope Ikiriko PhD. in the provision of speed boats, canoes to rescue trapped victims from flood submerged communities.
Ekpeleni Ekpeye appreciates the show of love by foreign donor groups abroad like Lord Echendu Foundation, Usama Ekpeye USA Inc., Blessing Njekwe Foundation, Rivers state Governorship and deputy Governorship candidates of Social Democratic Party- SDP Sen. Magnus Ngei Abe, Rivers state Governorship candidate of Accord Party- Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs and indeed Uzugbani Ekpeye elites home and abroad for responding swiftly to the flood pandemic that submerged Ekpeye landmass eighty percent.
LIFE OF EKPEYE PEOPLE IN IDP CAMPS; GOING FORWARD
The unfortunate flood situation throws Ekpeye affected citizens off balance- a precarious situation that requires urgent intervention from all levels of government and Stakeholders at home and abroad to avert further losses.
The flood incident remains a litmus test to all those in positions of authority and all those who yearn to govern the people about how well they mean for the citizenry.
On this premise Ekpeleni Ekpeye calls on the Local Government Chairmen in Ahoada East and West LGAs as a third tier government to as a matter of urgency declare a state of emergency on flood in thier respective local government areas.
The group further calls on the two Local government Chairmen to come out as the third tier of government and take direct action by announcing cash assistance just as the state government did instead of personal donations; this will further address issue of shortage of relief items in the camps as earlier reported by sources.
It is the honest desire of Ekpeleni Ekpeye to see that a periodic update is given out to the Ekpeye donors about how Ekpeye citizens are fairing in the various IDP camps, in terms of food supply, security, and health care, this will further spur more positive response from donors at home and abroad.
It is also the desire of Ekpeleni Ekpeye that Uzugbani Ekpeye should live up to their expectations by informing and sensitizing Nigerians and indeed the world of the deplorable hardship and lack of Federal government attention to come to the aid of the teaming population of Ekpeye people who have been chased out of thier homes and livelihood by the ravaging flood, also to come up with a corporate account to attract foreign donations.
