According to the federal government authorities the leader of the Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB) has been arrested and extradited to Nigeria.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami made the disclosure during a press briefing to newsmen on Teusday in Abuja.
Malami said a federal high court in Abuja had granted the federal government’s application to arrest and commence the trial of the IPOB leader.
Malami also disclosed that Justice Binta Nyako of the federal High court Abuja has granted accelerated hearing of the suit and has ordered that the IPOB leader be remanded in the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS) pending when the court will reconvene to hear the matter on 26th July, 2021.
The leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was granted bail in April 2017 but refused returning to court after he fled abroad.

Kalu is being tried for crimes bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, possession of firearms, management of an unlawful society plus other treasonable charges.
While abroad the IPOB leader has continued to make incitive statements against the federal government through the social media. Such incitive statements according to the federal government has continue to cause tension and disunity in Nigeria and the South East in particular.
