As part of it’s infrastructural development plans for the state the Rivers State Executive Council presided over by His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike today made critical decisions/approvals concerning the State’s Road infrastructure, Power Sector, Judiciary and Finance/Budget.
Marshall Obuzor Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Wike made the disclosure on Thursday through his verified social media handle.
Obuzor noted that the Executive Council approved the award of the Oyigbo-Okoloma Road in Oyigbo Local Government Area. The road which has a 12 month completion schedule has a total length of 19.4 kms, a width of 10.3 meters and 24 kms of drains. It was approved at the sum of N11.483bn and is to be constructed by Lubrik Construction Company.
Also approved for construction is the 27.1 km Chococho- Igbodo Road in Etche LGA. The road which also has a 12 month completion schedule will be 11.3 Meters wide with 22kms of drains. It is to be constructed by Setraco Nigeria Limited at the sum of N13.523bn.
The State Executive Council also approved the construction of a Magistrate Court complex which is to house 24 Magistrate Courts, a sick bay and other facilities to service the courts. The project is valued at N8.6bn and is to be completed in 8 months.

In the Power and Energy sector the Council deliberated on the events surrounding the Rivers State Government owned Gas turbine and accessories paid for and abandoned in the Netherlands since 2012 and directed the Honourable Attorney-General of the State to file criminal proceedings against Saipem Nigeria Limited for her role in the incidence.
In the Finance and Budgetary sector, the Council approved the Rivers State medium term expenditure framework 2022-2024 , and also approved Rivers State Government’s participation in the Federal Government and Nigerian Governors form supported Bridging Finance Facility for subnational economies.
