Governor Wike calls for due process and rule of law in the prosecution of Nnamdi Kanu [Video]

The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezewor Wike has called for due process and rule of law in the prosecution of the IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Wike has eqauly called for the arrest and prosecution of individuals and groups who have continue to cause security breaches across the country.


The Governor who made the call during a zoom interview with AriseTv on Thursday said in order to allay the fears of Nigerians on Nnamdi Kanu’s trial the Federal Government should ensure due process and the rule of law is observed in the prosecution.

To avoid raising ethnic sentiments, He warned against discrimination in the fight against crime and Insecurity and further called for the arrest and prosecution of groups and individuals causing Insecurity in Nigeria.
“I do not believe in his principles.
“I have said it you cannot annex my state to be your own, but that doesn’t mean you would not allow the law to take it’s course”.

Governor Wike advised eqaul measure for all concerned in the fight against crime and Insecurity in the country.
“The same way you have arrested Nnamdi Kanu, should be the same way others whom you have known should be brought to book to face the wrath of the law.
“You cannot discriminate. You cannot say because Nnamdi Kanu is from one area of the country, so let us do this. The same measure should be applied to everyone, the bandits, the miyyetti Allah the same principle must apply”, he noted.

The leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu  was arrested and granted bail on medical grounds in April 2017 for charges bordering on treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms, and management of unlawful society but never returned back to the courts after he fled the country.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami in a press briefing said the IPOB Leader was intercepted through a collaboration of security agencies abroad.

However, a federal high court in Abuja has fixed 26th July to resume his trial and has reserved september 20th for judgment.
