Police Dismisses Inspector Over Viral Video of Bribery & Extortion [Video]

As part of the move by the Inspector General of Police IGP Alkali Baba Usman to sanitize and standardize the policing structure in Nigeria the Police has dismissed one of it’s personnel Insptr. Richard Gele from the force.

Former Insptr. Richard Gele enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on September 2000 with service number, AP/No. 188547 is from Benue state serving in Okene Kogi state, Nigeria.
 
The Police as an institution with code of conduct, ethics and rules said it took the decision to set the right precedence to other erring officers following a video that went viral on social media where the dismissed officer dignified corruption and impunity.

The dismissed officer was caught in the video clip which trended in June 2022 dignifying and justifying extortion of members of the public and official corruption.

The Police further said that the act violates the force ethics and that any officer caught in the act would be dealt with and shown the way out.
 
Richard Gele’s dismissal from the force took place on the 29th of July 2022 and he seizes to be a member of the Nigeria Police force or be related with as a member of the force henceforth.
 
 
The IGP has further directed the Kogi state Commissioner of Police to carry out further prosecution of the dismissed personnel.
 
The statement further implore Nigerians to be on the same page with the current police leadership, to report such acts of corrupt practices carried out by members of the force to the appropriate units, departments and Public relation officers of the force for appropriate actions.
