The Upata Traditional Council in Ekpeye ethnic nationality, is set for the commissioning of her ultra-modern Central Palace situate at it’s headquarters in Edeoha town, Ahoada East LGA, Rivers State.
The historic Upata Central Palace facility amongst many sets the right precedence in traditional governance policy in Rivers State and Nigeria at large where a king is expected to rule/govern his people from his official palace and not from his private residence- a Standard reminiscent of a true public service.
During an interactive session with the Initiator and Paramount ruler of Upata Kingdom HRM Felix E. Otuwarikpo P.hD, JP. Nye udu Igbu Upata 111 said that the project is in line with his noble objective and vision of institutionalizing traditional governance in Upata Kingdom.
Explaining further he noted that the Upata Central Palace building accommodates a throne room where special visitors to Upata Kingdom are ushered in, a general hall for visitors and guests, a residential wing for the royal family, a heritage hall for keeping traditional artifacts, the king’s office and the palace chapel bid for commissioning by the Anglican Bishop of Ahoada Diocese Rev. Nathan Ekpeye on the 27th of July, 2022.
The Upata Central Palace also made provision for a Guest house wing, a games arena, swimming pool and a palace cemetery.
The Upata Kingdom Central Palace building is bid for commissioning on the 20th of August, 2022 by 11:00am under the distinguished Chairmanship of HRM. King Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP, Jeki v Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom &
Chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.
